Would it be possible to get your hair cut while it's dry?

I am going to get a hair cut...I have naturally curly hair and I plan on straightening it when i go to get it cut for the first time in years!!

I'm going to straighten it because They always cut off too much when i leave it curly...

now i was wondering if it's possible to get your haircut while your hair is dry instead of having it wet. Could I ask them to cut it while its dry because when my hair is curly it shrinks up...

Look, hair has to be cut when wet. The reason being they get a better judgment and your hair isnt flying off. If you ask them to cut your hair while its dry, then you might end up looking weird, as their wont be any symmetry left in ur hair after that. You have to wet it. Tell your hairdresser, dont change the lenght of the hair and just trim it. They will surely not chop off too much.

they might be able to just wet the ends and leave the top dry, i have had my hair cut like that before, that way it reduces how much it shrinks up.

I have curly hair and it is pretty much dry when I get it cut. My hairdresser likes to cut it dry so their are no "surprises" when it dries and curls back up.

So it should be possible...

Yes they can, it all depends on the experience of the hairdresser. Cutting the hair while dry is mainly used for point cutting, and thinning out.

But you shouldn't straighten your hair before you cut it, especially if you wear it curly, because it will come out uneven. Curly hair shouldnt be cut like straight hair,its a totaly differant technique.

I suggest you go to a city salon something more upper class, and ask for a senior stylist , you will see the differance.

yes you can get it cut dry i did by a guy from LA that runs a high end salon while working as a model at a hair show .. he cut it dry and i loved it

U know what...last time I got a trim my past mid back length hair was butchered...so if you can do it yourself then do it...and ask for a mirror if you go so you can see what they are doing while it's being cut...YES the right stylist w/ the right experience can cut curly, dry hair but...do you think they will really tell you if they have no clue?
