How do I control the urge to cut my hair?

So yeah, it's like I can't stop myself from going to the hairdresser and cutting my hair. And it's like, I'll get my hair cut really short, and it'll look ultra weird. But I just keep on having that urge to go and cut my hair!! And I actually really wanna have long hair. Anyone got tips for stopping myself from going to cut my hair? And I have Bipolar Disorder by the way. I was wondering if it has any links. Should I tell my psychiatrist about it?

i used to do this with any kind of scissors in the house and close my eyes and cut off my hair because id get anxious and i recently stopped. to stop you actually have to want to stop. save pictures on the computer of a haircut you would like to have. when get that haircut urge just dont go and cut it. its really that simple. and go look at the pictures of the haircut you want to calm the urge. and entertain you mind with something else

im not sure if it has anything to do with bipolar but since youre already going to the psy you might as well tell him/her.
