I have very fine, dark blonde hair; should I get layers cut.?

Will this kind of cut make my hair look thinner? It's extremely straight and doesn't hold a curl very long. Would I be better off just having it cut shorter (its about to the middle of my back right now) Please help :-D

Layers added to the hair add fullness... One length styles weigh the hair down because of gravity.

I would suggest cutting your hair to about the shoulder blades, adding an angle around the face starting right below the chin and also have your layers starting about the same length.

This will create more movement and body.

Take it from someone who KNOWS...

layers are for people with thick hair so they can thin out their look....dont do layers if you have thin or fine hair, you're gonna look like if u have no hair!....fine hair looks good with a PEAK cut at the bottom, ask your hair stylist about that cut

no, layers will actually make it look fuller.

Get a cute hair cut that starts longer in the front and gets shorter in the back you can always add a little gel or hairspray and it makes it look soooo much thicker.

Go to a good stylist for your first cut, and ask his/her opinion. I have a thick, generous mane and layers are the only way to keep it in order, so i guess if you have fine hair you should do the contrary, a blunt cut, maybe with one or two layers close to the neck (under your hair) for volume. If you cut it too short, it'll look thinner.

no layers make it thinner and more vunerable to frizzy hair i would suggest to get a short curl out cut

I have hair like your's...stick straight and very fine. I got it cut short...like Winona Ryder had hers when it was really short. the trick is leaving the fringes around the face and neck, and making it VERY texturized so it doesn't look boyish or (forgive the term) like a dyke. I get complements on it all the time...and it LOOKS thicker because there isn't anything weighing it down :-)

I think that layers look good on anyone. It is especially good on someone who has fine hair because it can give your hair more body. Also, It would look better if it is short because the focus would be on your face. I would recommend a haircut no longer than shoulder length.

Have your hair cut to about shoulder length, then add some layers around your face. With it short you will get volume and your hair will seem thicker. Also consider getting highlights - this adds shape and style to even the straightest hair (and I should know - my hair too is stick straight!)

I am a hair dresser with many clients that have fine thin hair. Layers are usually best on fine thin hair if it is cut shorter. Talk with your hairstylist, get several opinions. This will help you get a better idea of what you and your hair need. Keep in mind that the more layers and the shorter it is the more time you will need to spend on fixing it.
