Cut dogs hair?

My poodles hate to get their hair cut by any one, even me. We can't take them to pet smart because they bite. How much would it cost me to take them to the vet to get their hair cut?

I reccomend finding a a groomer that has a private shop. A home envirnment. It will take a few times or more maybe...but you must be consistant. ASk questions of your groomer....HAVE you been to school for grooming...and not a petco or petsmart school. An actual accredited grooming school. That type of groomer is educated to handle your type of problem. I have been grooming for over 28 years and have yet to meet ANY dog of ANY size/shape/personality that I could not groom...oh yes...I did go to an accredited school. Be consistent. Find a groomer that shows kindness. Also dont trust a groomer that doesnt own a dog himself/herself.

it depends on where u go. 1 vet i went to even did it 4 free! so just do some reseach on da internet + i bet u will find da perfect vet!!!!

Well, unfortunately, vet clinics do not do grooming *unless they have their own grooming clinic attached*. The best way to find out, is to call the local clinics and ask if any of them provide grooming and how much it would cost.

vets are not groomers...so if you take them there be prepared for a butchered job.

most vets only cut dogs hair if it's for a medical reason (ie. matted hair that has caused sores, mange, surgery etc)

i would call a professional groomer, one that has a LOT of experience w/poodles, and w/dogs that are not "groom happy".

then i would invest in a good muzzle! always muzzle your dog, don't leave that up to the groomer. you can also ask your vet if there is anything he can subscribe to make your pet less anxious.

u can still bring them to the groomers just ask ur vet for something that will calm them while they are getting there hair cut. Like a sedative.

You can ask your Vet to prescribe some tranquilizers for your dogs so the groomer at PetSmart can groom them without getting bitten. The Tranquilizers will just make them relaxed so they won't care who touching them.

Vets don't cut hair. They will bring in a groomer on occasion that works with them. They could give the dog something to calm him down before a shave if that would help.

Check if the vet has a groomer on the premises.

Or call around to other groomers. There are groomers that can work with difficult dogs. I've groomed LOTS of dogs that bite.

Be upfront about the fact that your dogs bite.
