I am a girl with long hair. I like about an inch trimmed off it every few months. If I was a guy with long hair, I could go into a barber and pay 鎷? or so and the barber would trim my hair. But as I am a girl the barber says "We don't cut women's hair." Once when pushed, the barber actually used the excuse "I'm not insured to cut women's hair."
I am fed up paying 鎷?0 for a basic trim that takes less time than a short back and sides on my boyfriend, or having to sit for hours in the chair getting my hair washed and being sold shampoo that I don't need, all because barbers won't cut my hair. I could understand if I asked for some complicated ladies haircut, because the barber may not be trained to do that, but hell, every hairdresser knows how to do a trim. I remember getting my fringe done as a kid at a barber.
Is it legal for them to refuse? Can I claim sexual discrimination? Most importantly, I want a quick cheap haircut! How do I get the barbers to cut my hair?

Yes any business can refuse service legally. You may not be able to get a barber to cut your hair and there's really nothing you can do about it. I mean would your boyfriend to your gynocologist for a check up no b/c gynos are for women. I cut my own hair and that saves me alot of money. I learned how the last time I got my hair cut. I just asked how to trim it up in between professional cuts and she showed me.

Its not a liability thing,,,I work at barber shops and I hate cutting womens hair,,thats why i started working in a barber shop.. I wouldnt recommend a barber for a womans cut,,,because they have less experince if since they have been only cutting mens hair,,It makes me alot longer to cut a womans hair,,,have to comb it out,,section it out,,,takes about 25 minutes,,,a mans hair cut takes me 5 minutes...one way for a barber to get out doing them ....we charged $6 for clipper cuts and $14 for STYLE cuts.,,,so most women would go to the nearby beauty stire and pay $12.....I just wouldnt suggest forcing someone to do something they dont want to do,,,,or you may get a less than desireable look.......
by the way.,,,,I recommend starwberry scented SAUVE shampoo....girls dont waste your $$ on the expensive brand names
